Reminiscing

On my birthday Tim suggested we visit our engagement spot. We had just finished a delicious thai lunch nearby and we had free babysitting so it was a perfect opporunity. It took us quite some time to determine the exact location since he proposed right off a trail at Gring's Mill in winter time. Everything was looking the same after a while! It was a fun challenge and brought back all the emotions we felt on that Christmas eve 5 years ago. We laughed about how I had insisted we enter the park from a different entrance which left Tim unsure of the location he had prepared for the proposal (he had only been there once before and only knew how to get there from the way my brother had taken him earlier that day). Fortunately we did make our way there, after about a 1/2 hour walk!

We knew we had found our spot when we saw the old barn up on the hill and the tree limb that stretched over a clearing in the woods. Tim proposed to me on a wooden swing that he hung from that tree. Underneath the swing he had carved our names and the date. He chose the swing because there is a scene just like it in "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken," one of my favorite movies that he had watched with me that summer.

Such a wonderful memory to revisit 5 years later and to reflect on all that has happened since that day!
